2021 Projects

During this year it will show different engineering concepts such as the use of GD&T, tool design, additive manufacturing, and machine design.

Fixture

In slide 2 there is a part that needed to be placed on the milling machine to cut the slots into it. To make this possible a fixture needed to be made to make sure the mill can cut the slots without disturbance, which can be seen on slide 3. To hold the part down toggle clamps were used with a custom clamp as seen on slide 5.

Gear Box

This project required one to find a project that incorporated mechanical design and allowed one to use the knowledge accumulated over the years to help accomplish it. The project selected required one to change the speed of a RC Car by changing the gear ratio only. There would be three gear boxes that are to be designed to be a quick swap. One gear box will be the same as manufacture another will increase the speed of the car and lastly it will be energy efficient. To view more about this project please
